Definition: Quality Score is a performance metric used in digital marketing to evaluate the relevance, engagement, and effectiveness of your content, such as emails, ads, or keywords. While the term originates in paid search advertising, it is also applicable in email marketing and popups. In email marketing, quality score can refer to how well your emails resonate with your recipients based on various factors like open rates, click-through rates, and user engagement.

For example, if your emails are opened and acted upon regularly, it indicates that your content is relevant and engaging, which will improve your quality score. A higher quality score can also positively impact deliverability, as email service providers (ESPs) consider user engagement when determining whether your email is likely to be considered spam or a legitimate communication.

Example: An e-commerce brand running an email campaign that consistently sees a high open rate and click-through rate will have a higher quality score compared to another brand whose emails are often ignored or marked as spam. This improved score will lead to better email deliverability and higher engagement rates in future campaigns.
