Description: A Reactivation Loop is an email automation strategy that re-engages subscribers who have become inactive and stopped interacting with a brand. Instead of letting these inactive users hurt engagement rates, marketers can identify “cold” leads by monitoring their activity, such as not opening or clicking emails for a set period.

When a subscriber falls into this category, the Reactivation Loop sends a series of targeted emails designed to reignite their interest. These emails may offer valuable content, request feedback, or provide exclusive incentives to encourage interaction. If the subscriber responds, they are moved back to the active list.

Example

A SaaS company sets up an automation rule for subscribers who haven’t opened an email in three months. This trigger starts a Reactivation Loop, which could go thus:

  • Email 1: Highlights new features the user has missed.
  • Email 2: Offers a limited-time discount to encourage a return.
  • Email 3: Asks, “Do you still want to hear from us?” with a specific link to confirm interest.

If a subscriber clicks the link, the automation tags them as “Re-engaged” and keeps them on the email list. But if the user ignores the messages, the system automatically unsubscribes them. This is to ensure the brand sends future emails only to an engaged audience
