Introducing Poptin API v1.0: Connect Poptin to Your Growth Stack

Today, we’re launching Poptin API v1.0—a new way to connect Poptin with your CRM, data warehouse, internal tools, and marketing workflows.
Poptin helps businesses turn website traffic into leads, subscribers, and customers. Until now, much of that work happened directly inside the Poptin dashboard. With the launch of Poptin API v1.0, developers and product teams can programmatically work with the same core data and workflows they use in Poptin.
That means you can connect Poptin to the rest of your growth stack, automate repetitive tasks, build custom reporting, and create workflows tailored to your business.
What is Poptin API v1.0?
Poptin API v1.0 is a public REST API for managing Poptin data and marketing operations from your own applications and backends. It uses API-key authentication and returns consistent JSON responses across its endpoints, making it straightforward to integrate with existing systems.
The API is designed for agencies, product teams, developers, and operators who want to connect Poptin with CRMs, data warehouses, internal dashboards, automation platforms, or custom applications.
To get started, visit the Poptin API quickstart guide and review the authentication documentation.

Manage popups and forms programmatically
Poptins are the popups and forms you create in Poptin. With the API, you can:
- List the poptins in your account
- Retrieve a poptin and inspect its configuration
- View performance analytics
- Pause or resume a poptin
- Rename a poptin
- Delete a poptin
- Refresh poptin statistics
This is useful when you want to build a custom campaign dashboard, synchronize campaign status with another system, or give internal teams a simplified operational view.
Connect conversion data to your other systems
The API gives you access to conversions—leads and other actions captured through your popups and forms. You can list conversions, inspect individual records, and delete conversion data when needed.
For example, you can use conversion data to feed a reporting warehouse, trigger downstream workflows, connect leads to a CRM, or create a unified view of marketing performance across channels.
Create, update, and import contacts
Contact management is one of the core capabilities in v1.0. You can:
- List contacts
- Create or update a contact
- Retrieve a specific contact
- Update contact status
- Delete a contact
- Import contacts in bulk with JSON
- Import contacts in bulk with CSV
- Delete contacts in bulk
Bulk operations make it easier to migrate lists, keep systems synchronized, or perform large-scale maintenance without handling every contact one at a time.
Manage custom properties and subscription preferences
Every business organizes contact data differently. The API lets you create and manage custom contact properties so your Poptin data model can reflect your workflow.
You can also manage subscription preferences, including creating, listing, updating, retrieving, and deleting preference definitions. This gives teams more control over how contacts are categorized and how subscription choices are represented in their systems.
Manage email campaigns and send template emails
Poptin API v1.0 also brings email campaign operations into your integrations. You can:
- List and inspect campaigns
- Review campaign analytics
- Pause or resume a campaign
- End a campaign
- Delete a campaign
- Send a campaign test email
In addition, you can send a template email to an individual contact through the API. This can support personalized follow-ups, transactional-style workflows, or integrations where an external system determines when a contact should receive a message.
Track long-running operations with background jobs
Some operations take longer than a typical API request, especially bulk imports, bulk deletions, and mass sends. The API handles these through background jobs that you can poll for status.
This lets your application start an operation, continue working, and then check whether the job is queued, running, completed, or unsuccessful.
What can you build with the Poptin API?
With this launch, Poptin can become a more connected part of your marketing and customer-data infrastructure. Here are a few ways teams can use the API:
- CRM synchronization: Send new Poptin leads to your CRM and keep contact status aligned.
- Data warehousing: Centralize conversions, contacts, campaign data, and analytics for deeper reporting.
- Internal dashboards: Build a campaign or lead dashboard around the metrics your team actually uses.
- List migration: Import or remove contacts in bulk using JSON or CSV workflows.
- Marketing automation: Trigger email and contact workflows based on events in your own systems.
- Agency operations: Give clients or internal teams a tailored interface for managing Poptin campaigns.
Work with consistent responses and pagination
Every API response follows a consistent envelope with success, message, data, errors, and meta fields. Your integration can branch on the success value, read the returned data, and handle validation or authorization errors in a predictable way.
List endpoints support pagination. Contacts and conversions use cursor pagination, while other list endpoints use page-based pagination. The pagination reference explains how to iterate through larger result sets.
What is outside the scope of v1.0?
Poptin API v1.0 focuses on operational data and workflows. It does not expose the JavaScript embed and on-page display internals used to render Poptin on a website. Marketplace and partner authentication flows are also outside the scope of this public API.
