What’s New in Poptin: September 2026 Product Updates, featuring API, editor and AI referrals illustrations

September brought new ways to connect Poptin to your tools, personalize offers for Wix shoppers, and turn traffic from AI search engines into subscribers and customers. We also made everyday tasks easier, from designing popups to exporting your contacts.

Here’s a look at what’s new and how you can use it.

Connect your workflows with Poptin API v1.0

The Poptin API is here, giving you more ways to connect your lead generation and email marketing with the systems you already use.

You can work with contacts, custom properties and subscription preferences, access conversion data and popup statistics, and manage supported email campaign operations. Bulk imports and background jobs also make it easier to keep larger datasets up to date.

For example, you can sync contacts with your CRM, bring campaign results into an internal dashboard, or connect an AI agent to supported Poptin actions through a custom integration.

API access is available on the Free plan. You’ll need a Poptin account and an API key generated in the app to get started. Keep your key private and use a dedicated test account when experimenting, since API requests affect your account’s live data.

Personalize popups for visitors from AI engines

People are discovering businesses through ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and other AI tools. You can now tailor your popups and forms to visitors arriving from supported AI engines.

In your display rules, open Traffic Source and select AI Engines. Use it to show a relevant introduction, highlight a helpful resource, or invite these visitors to join your email list.

For instance, someone arriving after asking an AI assistant to recommend a solution could see a short explanation of your product and a useful next step.

Detection depends on the referral information available, so not every visit from an AI engine can be identified.

More ways to reach the right Wix shoppers

Wix stores gained new cart targeting, cart-action triggers, order-history targeting and customer-info targeting this month.

These give you more control over when an offer appears and which shoppers see it. You can tailor a popup to the value or contents of a cart, use available purchase history to recognize returning customers, or personalize an offer using information in a Wix contact record.

A few practical ideas:

  • Show an offer to shoppers whose cart meets a value threshold
  • Display a message when a shopper adds or removes a product
  • Tailor an offer to customers with a relevant purchase history
  • Use available customer attributes to make your messaging more relevant

Cart-related features require a Wix Store. Order-history targeting requires logged-in customers, and customer-info rules depend on the contact data available. Feature availability varies by plan.

Add Wix products directly to your emails

If you use Wix with Poptin’s email marketing, you can now add store products directly in the Campaign Editor and customize their design.

This makes it easier to build a product-focused campaign without recreating each product block manually. Bring your store products into the email, adjust the presentation to match your brand, and build the rest of your message around them.

It’s a useful shortcut for product highlights and promotional newsletters.

Zoom in for the details, out for the full design

The popup and form editors now let you zoom in and out of the canvas.

Zoom in when you’re adjusting spacing, text or smaller design elements. Zoom out to review the overall layout and see how the pieces work together.

The control changes your editing view, so you can work more comfortably without changing the size of the popup visitors see.

Export contacts with less waiting

We’ve improved contact exports to make downloading your lists faster and more reliable.

Exports of up to 250 contacts download immediately. Larger exports are prepared in the background, and you receive a download link by email when they’re ready.

The updated flow also preserves your selected filters, shows clearer progress and helps prevent duplicate export requests. Whether you’re moving a small segment into a report or downloading a larger list, the process is easier to follow.

More improvements across email and your dashboard

We also shipped smaller changes that make day-to-day work smoother:

  • Improved right-to-left support in the email editor and refined Hebrew interface layouts
  • Fixed special-character handling in email subject lines and preview text
  • Improved campaign sending, status updates and automation delay handling
  • Made completed onboarding checklist items accessible again, and included automation emails in the first-email checklist step
  • Improved Shopify setup guidance and fixed coupon and order-currency display issues
  • Fixed cases where Spin-the-Wheel prize fields were unexpectedly cleared
  • Added saved-card removal for eligible free-plan accounts

Alongside these updates, we improved server performance and fixed popup, template and mobile-interface issues to keep the experience more reliable.

From custom API workflows to more relevant Wix offers, September’s updates give you more ways to capture leads and follow up with useful, timely messages.
